2008-09 SUPPLY LIST FOR GRADE 8
REMINDER:
Homework Planners and Book Socks will be available for purchase at school during registration.
The following supplies will be needed when school opens. Some items may need to be replenished during the school year:
1. 1 Sturdy Pee Chee folder (no academic info inside e.g. times tables, etc.)
2. Four 1” soft cover 3 ring binders (a different color for each binder) OR one 2” binder
(student preference)
3. 8 dividers with pockets
4. 6” or 12” ruler (metric & inches)
5. Looseleaf paper (replenish as needed) - for assignments
6. Looseleaf paper OR spirals for note taking (student preference)
7. Red ball-point pens (replenish as needed)
8. 1 USB 2.0 flash drive, at least 256 MB. One per family, one time purchase
(to be used in grades 6, 7 and 8.) Costs about $15 on sale.
9. Correction tape - no liquid
10. 4 spiral notebooks (8 1/2 x 11, 70 sheet, single subject) – labeled Literature
11. Dark blue or black ball-point pens - no gel pens (replenish as needed)
12. Small scissors
13. 1 large soft zipper pouch
14. Good News homework assignment notebook - available at registration for $7
15. 1 large box of Kleenex
16. 1 box of baby wipes
17. 5 large book socks, 1 small book sock
18. #2 pencils (replenish as needed)
19. 1 Texas Instrument solar scientific calculator TI 30Xa
20. The following books will be used for Literature

The following supplies were attainable at Michael’s Art & Crafts in the Long Beach Towne Center on Carson:
“Art Bin” – preferable (size of a shoe box) - regular sturdy shoe box acceptable
Strathmore Water Color Paper pad
9” x12” – 24 sheets, 80 lb. (larger is not “better”)
Enclosed pencil sharpener
Artist charcoal sticks – Vine – medium
Colored Pencils – 12 pack
Oil pastels – 12 pack
Watercolors – set of 12 tubes
Acrylic Paint – set of tubes (primary + black and white)
Natural hair “watercolor” brush
Markers
Bottle of Elmer’s white glue
Two glue sticks
Clear ruler
Scissors
Optional large button up smock shirt (Dad’s old shirts work great!)

PLEASE LABEL
All school supplies must be labeled with your student's name, including lunch boxes, backpacks,
all clothing items such as sweaters, jackets and anything else that might end up in our school's
lost and found box.
BOOK COVERS
All hardcover textbooks must be covered. Please help with this. Stretch cloth covers (book socks)
can be purchased. These really work! The covers stay on all year! The students can remove them
and use them again the following school year. Cover workbooks with contact paper.
Label workbooks - include name and grade.
BACKPACKS
All students must use a backpack every day in which to bring items to and from school.
Wheeled backpacks are not permited due to limited storage space.
REPLENISH
Parents, please review this list with your student from time to time. Being prepared for class will count
as an effort grade for students. Please keep this list handy during the year as your student
will run out of some of these items. Replenish supplies as needed.
